THE CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION PROGRAMS OF CHILD'S HOPE

The following programs are offered, free of charge, in an effort to prevent the growing problem of child abuse in Wayne County.

  • My Body is Mine
  • A sexual abuse prevention program for pre-school children in at-risk settings in Wayne County.

  • Mandated Reporter Training
  • For persons mandated by law to report suspected child abuse. More than 2,000 persons are trained by Child's Hope each year.

  • Shaken Baby Prevention Training
  • Providing new parents knowledge about the damage - and even death - which can be caused by shaking babies. Shaken Baby Syndrome is a leading cause of infant death in the Wayne County area.

  • Jumpstart
  • The first program in Michigan of the nationally acclaimed Jumpstart initiative, helping children at risk overcome the obstacles of abuse and neglect. A college student mentors a four-year old child in a Head Start classroom for 300 hours over the course of an academic year, working on social and pre-literacy skills. Partners include the University of Michigan-Dearborn, Henry Ford Community College, the Michigan Community Services Commission and the national Americorps program.

  • Take-5
  •      A parenting stress-reduction workshop for parents in demographics with high incidences of child
         abuse.

  • Biennial Summits on Children's Issues
    • 2003 - Mentoring: Pass it On!
